The Kabbalah of Love: The Interinclusion Inaugural Retreat

photo 2-14 retreat 2014 summerIt’s hard to say what was most enjoyable at the Interinclusion Retreat held from Sunday, August 10 – Tuesday, August 14, in the picturesque town of Grafton, Vermont. There were the stunning accommodations, inspiring and stimulating teaching from Interinclusion directors—Rabbi Asher and Sara Esther Crispe, delectable meals and creative workshops covering art, music and writing and the unparalleled beauty and relaxation of hiking, biking, canoeing or just being in Southern Vermont.

Participants stayed in the historic Grafton Inn, a quaint inn that has hosted Thoreau, Emerson and 3 U.S. Presidents throughout the years. The antique filled rooms with beautiful views of the mountains was an added plus to this inspiring three-day program.

The theme of the retreat was “The Kabbalah of Love” chosen to correspond with the Hebrew date of Tu B’av—a day celebrating the seeking and finding of one’s soul mate. Every aspect of the program related to creating healthy relationships. Participants learned about color theory and the Torah understanding of art and love through a class held in the local Gallery NorthStar which was then followed by a painting workshop at Grafton Ponds. Both evenings were spent at a bonfire which included a drum and music circle one night and a hands-on demonstration about the power of creating and holding a safe space for our partner the second evening. A writing workshop allowed participants another mode of creative expression for tapping into feelings and thoughts and using the written word to relay meaning and depth.

In the mornings Rabbi Asher Crispe led a Kabbalistic meditation related to prayer in the botanical gardens while Sara Esther Crispe taught on communication and the power of thought and led the group on a hike through the Vermont Green Mountains.

Every meal was catered to the particular needs of the group including dairy-free, gluten-free and vegetarian options throughout. From the moment of arrival to the take-away customized lunches for the drive home, Interinclusion ensured that its guests were fulfilled physically as well as intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.

Interinclusion is thrilled with the outcome of its first retreat and is already working on plans for the next one.

Here is some of the participant feedback and comments which really say it all:
